Every year, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, together with the magazine Für-Gründer.de, selects the top 50 start-ups from Germany and creates a top-class ranking. Based on last year's competition successes, SMELA (Smart Electric Actuators) was able to achieve a remarkable second place with its innovative linear actuator.
This confirms the positive development of the Magdeburg-based start-up, which was able to win sveral renowned competitions in 2020. These include the IQ Innovation Award Magdeburg 2020, the nationwide start-up competition start2grow and the largest business plan competition in Germany, Science4Life, in the field of energy.
Co-founder and CEO Benjamin Horn is delighted about the success of his young company: "Being voted one of the top 50 German start-ups makes us very proud and confirms our current course, which is now leading from a start-up project to a company. From the very beginning, we have developed a practical electric drive together with our pilot customers. Now we are ready to make our solution available to many more industrial partners.
Building on their current momentum, SMELA is planning the series production of its actuators. The funds required for this were already raised in 2020 through the investment of Mitteldeutsche Wohnwert GmbH. Univations GmbH
