SMELA has taken second place in the ranking of Germany’s Top 50 Start-ups for 2020

Every year, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, in collaboration with the magazine Für-Gründer.de, selects the top 50 start-ups from Germany and compiles a prestigious ranking. Based on its competition successes from the previous year, SMELA secured an impressive second place with its innovative linear drive.

This confirms the positivedevelopment of the Magdeburg-based start-up, which won several prestigiouscompetitions in 2020. These include the

- Magdeburg IQ Innovation Award 2020,

- the nationwide start-up competition start2grow,

- Science4Life, Germany’s largest business plan competition in the energy sector,

- and the Hugo Junkers Award.

Co-founder and Managing Director Benjamin Horn is delighted with the success of his young company: “Being voted among the top 50 German start-ups makes us very proud and confirms that we are on the right track, which is now taking us from a start-up project to a company. Right from the start, we have worked with our pilot customers to develop a practical electric drive system. We are now ready to make this solution available to many more industrial partners.”

Building on its current momentum, SMELA is currently planning the series production of its actuator. The necessary funding was secured back in 2020 through an investment by Mitteldeutsche Wohnwert GmbH.
